Most people will recommend avoiding any “smart” features on the TVs sets and say buy a monitor cause they have no smart features. Rightfully so, TVs can be privacy nightmares potentially.

That said I have recommendations for both:

Midrange TV pick: LG 48B5 - $529 at Best Buy

Fancy smaller Monitor Asus ROG Swift 32 OLED Monitor

    Premium TV LG C5 (Available in 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83 inch)

    Ultra Premium LG G5 (Available in 55, 65, 77, and 83 inch)

    Budget TV TCL QM7K

    Budget Monitor Samsung G5 series

Pound for pound dollar for dollar LG makes the best OLEDs and overall TVs. Sony is good but not worth the premium anymore.

  • If you’re techy at all, get an iFixit toolkit for small or proprietary screw heads. What a lifesaver that’s been; even for things like hex heads in furniture.

Always have a stocked liquor cabinet. Doesn’t matter if you drink or not - if you wanna be an accommodating host, make sure you at least have something to offer. You’ll feel like a bad host if you don’t at least offer.

I use my Neat steamer at least once a season for deep cleaning all over the house.

Air filters are great and seriously help keep the air clean and less stale, especially if you have pets. Most guests have no idea I have a cat until I show her off.

A good cooler is always useful. You don’t need to splurge for a yeti, but from having people in the yard, to keeping canned drinks cold for a party, a good cooler that can hold ice and drinks is invaluable for an event you’re hosting.

This is why I moved to iPhone a few years ago. Every premium android was a legit knockoff of iPhone in every single way, down to the lack of a headphone jack and SD card slot. Why continue chasing these phones that aren’t even as good as the real thing?

Android USED TO be better than iPhone, but Google is just gung-ho on enshitification. Apple, for the walled garden that it is, at least works well with its eco system. Android is so fragmented and complicated that it’s collapsing under its own weight.

  • Not really. I got 2 kids. I sometimes have an hour a day to play. And even then it’s decision paralysis of what to play that I can get a satisfying enough session in the little time I have.

I have a steam deck and it’s handy, but I also have game pass and I’ve been wanting to play some gamepass games on it. So it becomes the decision paralysis of what do I play. I would love to play games like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 or Civilization or Cities Skylines but I don’t have that kind of time to dedicate to complete a FULL session anymore.

Lately is been Doom Dark Ages.
