8·7 days agoThis is the kind of stuff you read right around the beginning of a bubble bursting.
I agree it is, I’m counting upvotes as downvotes so this will be a fun time.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit stock tumbles the most on record as lack of new AI deals, US daily users metric disappointsEnglish
62·12 days agoThe biggest issue I have is the big “subreddit” gatekeeping. Realistically at this point, every major “subreddit” is purely controlled by the core corporation. There is not decentralization of Reddit at all, and all the “mods” are just working for free pretending like they’re in control because they can do some things. The smartest thing Reddit did is make “mods” feel like they have some control.

Technology@lemmy.ml•GPT-5, the world best model just 1 year ago, is today inferior to Qwen3.6 27B that you can run on your desktop
221·15 days agoThis seems like a great time to mention what I built and hosted months ago. https://masland.tech/ai-efficiency-index/
The AI Efficiency Index tracks the cost/intelligence mix. Low intelligence is useless. Capability scales exponentially. Expensive ≠ better value. MiMo-V2.5 is the leader.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. This uses the Artificial Analysis leaderboard. They have “cost per task” which I think is weird.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•OpenAI CEO thinks the AI singularity is already upon us and that cracking down on it wouldn't be good for humanity, because of course he doesEnglish
101·15 days agoThis is insanely dumb, because if true then OpenAI becomes absolutely irrelevant. They’re never going to be able to make profit, and the AI bubble will collapse soon anyway. We are one or two more Chinese open-weight models away from bubble burst.

93·15 days agoRussia is in a major fuel crisis, this won’t help. The Russian economy is in a severe recession which will get worse as Ukraine continues to destroy their logistics. Putin should announce leaving Ukraine immediately, it’s the only way to stop Russia from falling apart.

Technology@lemmy.world•World's first 10,800 car carrier with solar power delivered by ChinaEnglish
32·18 days agoI was actually thinking about this recently. It’s now making a lot of sense to just cover the mega carriers in solar panels like this. Could probably even just carry a massive battery and be completely emissions free. Maybe a tiny nuclear reactor as an emergency backup?
Torvalds has years of experience as a developer, he wrote:
AI is a tool, just like other tools we use. And it’s clearly a useful one.
Which I firmly agree with. I think if AI is used responsibly it can be beneficial for certain tasks. More education around better AI usage and practices is more important now than ever before.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How does your area recycle, and how could Chicago apply that to improve its recycling rate?
11·18 days agoIt’s weird that I see aluminum can coke and plastic bottle coke, similar volume, basically the same price. Where one container is much more valuable and 100% recyclable, the other is harming the planet and is almost never recycled.

All the sloppers are torn about this, but Torvalds has undeniable mastery at this, so it’s great to see AI being used as a beneficial tool. If there’s a single person who should have unlimited access to the most powerful AI models, it should be Linus Torvalds.
