I do not think you can use your login elsewhere without transferring your account to that server. ~~
You can have multiple accounts with the same username on different servers.
Edited as I was confused. This question is regarding Boost, not in general.
How do I do this without logging in? Is there a way to change what server the “guest” account comes from?
First, allow me to apologize. I didn’t realize this was the Boost forum. My directions are for opening a web browser and looking from there.
Here is the homepage for Beehaw. I have had good luck setting the top of page options, then bookmarking. This will save those options.
I will install boost now and update my answer if there is a boost specific method.
In Boost, the default guest is from lemmy. World, which is displayed In the upper left menu at the top. I do not think this is changeable.
Via a web browser or is clear the home pages are subtilty different.
Likely, this is the price of a nice interface.
In Boost, the default guest is from lemmy. World
For me the guest account uses sopuli.xyz, the same instance my account is on.
This is in the works 😉
🎉
What would be the reasoning for doing this? They should technically be very similar. If you’re trying to avoid defederations you’ll have to just make a new account.
Some instances have a fairly narrow set of communities, such that their local home feed is a desirable browsing experience
That’s not the question though. They want to browse the “All” of another instance. They didn’t say the “Local” of another instance. Absent of defederations this makes no sense to me. Don’t understand the downvotes… other then people still do not understand how this works.
Mander.xyz for example, or if you are local to a region like Lemmy.ca
This is why I made this account as the local is fits exactly my interest. But I would like to be able to do so with more.
