Sorry for your loss.

I’m on 145 still. Maybe they are doing an A/B rollout for the UI. I’m not a big fan of all changes, but overall the aesthetic is nice.

Oh that’s interesting. About a week or maybe 2 ago I got a pretty big Firefox mobile update. The entire UI was overhauled. Have you experienced that yet?

I’m very interested in this and will try it out. There was another connection manager that the author posts on Lemmy, but the memory usage was very high due to the amount of docker containers used. A quick glance showed no requirement for docker. The ssh port forwarding could be a very useful feature for my work right now.

Settings -> Customize -> App Icon was the first option on Android.

Probably because older phones are in maintance mode for the OS. Adding new features always carries some complexity and testing all models takes time. Limit the models to test to only the more recent ones and you save money.
That said, it would be so nice to have a more open system where I can decide that if that goes on my phone myself.

I was thinking this was similar to Cohen the Barbarian from Discworld.
I was in the sane situation as you and what I did was buy a new drive to put Linux on so I could dual boot and get used to things without wiping everything. Linux can even mount your Window drive if you need to access data on it.
I tried a few distro myself but landed on Garuda Dr460onized Gaming. (You can look at different versions here) The gaming version came with steam and Heroic installed and had a nice colour theme picked. Gaming has been great and all Windows games that I’ve tried have worked better than when I was running Windows. (Rocket League, Hades 2, Uncharted 4 to name some) You can always keep Windows on your other drive and boot it for games like Fortnite that have kernel level anti cheat.
The only issue you might have is that Garuda is pretty bleeding edge with when updates get applied. This can be good or bad. There were some issues getting dual screens working for me at first, but those issues have gone away completely now. I also had issues with the top menu bar crashing and disappearing. Lasted about 2 weeks and then an update fixed it. (Survived by using the Meta + Spacebar search launcher and Ctrl + Alt + T to get into a terminal) So updates to fix issues come out somewhat quickly, but issues pop up too. I actually think it’s been pretty stable right now.
But isn’t Bazzite an immutable distro? I heard that has some advantages and some disadvantages especially when installing software. I skipped on it when I heard that for my desktop OS, but I haven’t actually tried it.
For some reason embedding didn’t work for me, and your attempt didn’t work either. Maybe it’s my lemmy client (Thunder)

I never played the DOA Beach Volleyball, but I loved the Summer Heat Beach Volleyball, mostly because of a Kylie Minogue song on it. (Then there was you) Now every time I hear that song it makes me think of summer.
I think you could add: “Enjoy a very colourful desktop interface?” and go from Garuda to Garuda Dr460onized.

Does StoryGraph offer anything that could be useful for this project? It’s a competitor to Good Reads. I’ve been using it because I’m getting away from anything that Amazon touches.

It really doesn’t need to be a picture.

I used to have this really awesome early 2000’s transparent blue plastic keyboard with all the newest media keys. The only problem was that it had 4 windows keys on it! One on either side of the spacebar. The right side of the spacebar was Alt, Windows, Context menu, CTRL. That was a bit weird but it was alright. The next placements were crazy though. Someone figured there was space for more keys right below the Delete, End and Page Down keys but I guess they couldn’t really figure out what would be best for there so they put a 3rd Windows key, a 2nd Context Menu and then a 4th Windows key right there. This was pretty close to the arrow keys and if anyone remembers gaming in the early 2000’s, pressing the windows key accidentlly would often just crash your game completely. If you could get back into it, it could take quite a while for it to respond again. So if you were playing something like Warcraft 2 multiplayer, that button was a fucking nightmare.
Ugh, I loved the colour of that keyboard so much I put up with all those windows keys.
edit: I can’t believe I found it! I’ve tried searching for this keyboard a few times, but finally found proof on this site!

Well it’s not like they paid you to display their logo. I think you’re just fiscally responsible and more people should do that.
Great quote!
32 year old movie… I love/hate when old movie quotes are more relevant today than when the movie came out.
I learned Ian’s Secure Knot because sometimes you get shoe laces that are slippery and never stay tied. The secure knot is way better than doing a double knot as you can easily untie it.
I also visit the site right after buying new shoes or boots and look up lacing patterns and pick something fun. I’m currently using Spider Web lacing.
