Once a fully-automated economy comes to fruition (or at least the perception of one), billionaires think they are the only individuals enlightened and valuable enough to be worthy of its boons. Once they no longer need our labor or our consumption, we are just chaff.

World News@lemmy.world•Netanyahu ordered drone attacks on Gaza-bound humanitarian aid boats off TunisiaEnglish
15·1 month agoIsrael and its enforcers are operating in a euphoric mental state. For an abuser it’s a rush to be able to abuse people openly and get away with it, rather than having to conceal and twist logic. They know that so long as they have the paid for blessing of the United States and its bloated military, nobody can realistically hold them accountable.
We have IDF soldiers openly admitting to killing unarmed civilians on social media. It’s all euphoria and arrogance.

World News@lemmy.world•British police may have shot 2 of the Manchester synagogue attack victims, one fatally, officials sayEnglish
123·1 month agoWithout more context it’s hard to pass judgement. Were the victims hit by pass-through shots on the attacker or a wall? Did the firearms officer straight up miss? Were they using their handgun or their carbine?
The real difference will be if they hold the firearms officer accountable, for negligence if nothing else.

41·2 months ago“I would have considered opposing war crimes and general inhumanity, but the opposition was cringe. I had no choice, really.”
Fuck off.
The most vile among them are at best ambivalent towards Trump. They’ll say he’s part of the same [Jewish/communist] cabal as the rest of the globalist NWO government and would be glad to put him to the torch as long as they get to put everyone else to the torch. He doesn’t go far enough quick enough, basically.
It doesn’t need to be absolute in success, it just needs to be applied arbitrarily to further abuse out-groups.

I’d imagine there are many ways people might “deal with it”, unfortunately for him.

World News@lemmy.world•American APCs packed with explosives become key IDF weapon in Gaza warEnglish
9·2 months agoReminds me of when Russia was using shit like line charges and surface to air missiles to blow up Ukrainian apartment blocks. Profound, idiotic squandering of military materiel not out of tactical necessity, but out of a base, abject hatred of their enemy as a culture and people.

551·2 months agoPersonally I’ll avoid sending any Western money to the Russian economy that I can. BSG has been able to weasel out of political controversy thus far…but it’s a milsim, the devs are probably more pro-Russia than not, they’re just smart enough to keep their mouths shut and keep accepting Western patronage.

World News@lemmy.world•Americans applying for Canadian refugee status in increasing numbers: dataEnglish
5·3 months agoIt says in the article that the number of American requests are still quite low, and are generally denied anyway. They have to prove that nowhere in the US is safe for them, and the high level position of Canada, for the time being, is that the US is not an unsafe country (otherwise they couldn’t defer other refugees here).
There are different hitch ball sizes. I’ve got one lying around that has 3 ends.
The ones in the back need extensions to the ground to match their ridiculous lift kits, otherwise the trailer would tip ass backwards.
Idaho-Montana is white supremacist doomsday preppers, but it looks like someone scrubbed something to that effect out.
Going srs on the meme here, but irregular fighters are generally terrible. No standard of training or fitness, no command structure, no logistics networks. Fighting behind enemy lines with little to no support is usually the bailiwick of highly trained commandos, not tubby white dads who go hunting once a year during 6-day rifle season. All these people would be fodder without getting their shit together first.
Oh, and we’re proving ourselves to be a bunch of yellow-belly cowards every single day the Republicans remain in power. There is not an ounce of martial pride in being an American.
You’ve been seeing this from their combat footage for over a year.
Troop movements almost always consist of less than a dozen people, and often less than half a dozen. Even lone troops moving about by foot or on bikes of some variety are seen. When heavy equipment like tanks are employed they are often alone, maybe paired with one or two partners.
You could make the argument that heavy use of unmanned drone and satellite recon makes larger troop buildups risky, but it feels like Ukraine and Russia both are hurting for competent infantry and they simply do not have enough to spread around the front to do any better. Because the way the fighting is happening now kind of flies in the face of modern combined arms doctrine.

World News@lemmy.world•Every Year, Sanctions Kill More People Than WarsEnglish
83·3 months agoWe’ve been down this road with North Korea. If a country’s leadership wants to burn the proverbial furniture and impoverish its people to fuel their war machine, no amount of foreign aid or trade is going to stop the impoverishment, because they will leverage it to offset spending to even more war.

Even on “safe” planets, the average person is basically a slave doing endless, arduous labor with no concern for their lives or well-being, all under the merciless thumb of Imperial dogma. It’s just a bad place to end up.
