  • But that complacency isn’t happening to everyone. A lot are just festering, slowly digesting more incredulous and radical propaganda/influencers. Every ones base reality of the events that are happening over the country is getting completely skewed by the new types of outlets like tiktok that they flock to because of the lack of accountability by our elected officials and journalists/news organizations.

During just this last hurricane Helene I’ve heard more anger and outrage about the government than anything to actually do about what’s been hit or what the people and rescue workers are actually doing. This is how we get mass shooters and assassinations becoming more prolific, people aren’t just complaining and going about their day. They’re nodding and grinding their teeth while smiling.

  • I unfortunately have the same feeling. Around Iphone 4 or so (when they were a lot smaller and sleeker) I got a slim phone case that could hold a card and my ID. It felt so nice going on a trip with only that in my pocket (not having to worry about if I feel my wallet in my back pocket, etc) but I couldn’t get over the fact that if I lost the phone I would be utterly screwed and a long way from home. Tend to always have a back-up now adays since I don’t want to have to put up with that.

  • I’m just tired of my electronics doing “extra”. I want to pause the video/player, I don’t want that to activate other activities for my device to perform…I just want to pause the fucking video. They’re all guilty of this though, either they show ads or screenshots of what they want you to watch next. I can’t even pause a video anymore to look at something or show something. The amount of times I’ve paused to have a discussion and the distracting shit plays in the background annoyed me to the point I no longer use the “smart tv” to watch anything and only use the tv hooked up to the comp so I can actually control and have a pleasant viewing experience.

  • I always thought the “see something, say something” tag-line was creepy as fuck and don’t understand why everyone doesn’t get the same vibe. It’s common sense that if you see someone being harmed or in a harmful situation you speak up. But this is just a blanket “see something” which feels like a dog whistle for all the nosy and paranoid people to spy on everyone and it’s for the best. I guess we’ll have the same personalities in search algorithms going forward -_-

  • I was wondering what the controversy was with my comment lol. I was just saying that relying solely on renewable energy and current technology to be widely developed and implemented to reach net-zero carbon will be a slow-meticulous crawl while we continue to pollute the earth with our current infrastructure (fossil fuels). We need to also continue to push for policies like more use of public transportation and stop subsidizing the oil and gas industry so people actually feel the cost associated more. People see things like bike lanes and busses/rails as a more viable option when it actually effects them. You’ll see more people walking to nearby locations or doing “greener” activity when the actual price of 8$ or more a gallon becomes a reality.

If you start telling people, “oh, well just get more panels and use AC.” They’ll take it as nothing needs to change in their habits and all the other industries are fine as they are. Much like the “recycling” program in the 80’s and 90’s was used to manipulate the public that they are responsible for all the garbage and toxins being produced.

  • is it weird that I don’t think it really looks like Starcraft (would probably be an improvement if it did though)? I’ve been looking at a lot of newer or undeveloped games like someone posted in one of the cross posts and all the games just have this moba-mobile look that seems like everyone is stuck on.

It’s like AI generated images, they all have this same look and feel to them no matter what it is but you can’t quite explain the fakeness to it. I can’t even really look at older games art styles comparing to the newer without getting confused with what’s happening or how it could be corrected.

  • Here’s a short animated Ted Talk about co-ops without CEO’s. Decisions can be decided by the workers, I think there’s some disconnect on what you’re imagining a CEO is. If you’re needing to make decisions everyday for the company to work… well you’re looking at something like Twitter which isn’t a stable company in a lot of ways. The video goes on to explain how co-ops operate and perform successfully through the centuries and a good starting point if you haven’t been introduced to the business model before.

Managers or “presidents” do exist, but the big difference is their role is to implement the decisions made by the group and does away with the usual power structure that influences and hurts the workers (usually through wage theft like the record bonuses CEO’s collect while making decisions for the share holders, not the consumers or employees).
