Oh yeah, the presence of this particular mindset is a lot more prevalent here on Lemmy, unfortunately. I call it the “Russian troll farm mentality.” Frankly, I find disingenuousness is less discomforting than outright delusion, because it means they know they’re full of shit. The delusional are just depressing.
There’s an important distinction. Pence was just an old school Republican who spent most of his career when they were still sane pieces of shit. They picked him because he was an actual politician to lend credibility to the crazy.
And ultimately, the dude chose country over party. We can give the guy shit for tons of stuff, but he still made the right call at the end of it.
Couch fucker was specifically chosen because he’s none of those things. Which is way, way worse.
On the flip side, there’s no reason to assume an artificial intelligence will share the same priorities as a human being.

I’m not fearmongering AI here (I, for one, welcome our future ai overlords). But we don’t really escape the issues of ethics with artificial intelligences. They’re still intelligent.
Why don’t you get back to us in January?
Hundreds of years, yes. Without issue? Definitely incorrect. It is a statistical certainty that, in the entire course of history, someone somewhere has gotten sick and died from this cooking method.
Pedantry aside, it’s all about who’s making the stew that matters. A seasoned chef today with the sufficient knowledge of modern food safety practices can keep a stew reliably safe to eat. Some old farmer centuries ago will experience a lot more opportunities for contamination and won’t notice until they get the shits.
That’s because there wasn’t any law against it at that time. Now we’ve got the 22nd amendment.
It absolutely is. It’s basically a ragebait propaganda machine.
Well, it was.
Just because you can find reasons doesn’t make them good ones. It’s a civic duty.
It’s a terrible way, except all the others that have been tried.
each system has its pros and cons. They should be tailored to the specific needs of that specific system. So say, if you’ve got a problem with unelected officials getting corrupt and throwing wrenches in the rest of the system, then it might be beneficial to rework the laws to more easily remove said officials.
Which Georgia?
Yes.
You should try a healthier hobby, like heroin.
Play both. One thing being great shouldn’t affect another great thing.
My dude, the patch just came out. It’s likely just a surge of traffic.
Joined! Let’s manage democracy together, brother!
Charlie Chaplin got done dirty. He was rocking that stache for decades earlier.
My dude, I agree with you. I’m just explaining how we get bullshit like this movie. Not actually supporting it or approving in any way. I can tell you right now that I have no intention of seeing this movie.
Also, everything is awesome.
I’m not disputing anything you’re saying, just trying to explain the logic of a movie production studio. If they’re trying to make a Minecraft movie, they’re going to gear it to maximize the revenue from their audience.
If they made it a kids movie, it’s because they thought that would make them the most money. Whatever kind of movie they made, it’s for monetary reasons.
