  • Yes, it was “Your name”!

You have to put the scene in the context of “anime” the genre. Anime is known for its fan service and adding such a scene in your supposedly sad and serious anime make the viewer automatically believe it will be full of it.

Tbh, I got burnout from the endless fillers of anime as a teen after watching one piece, naruto and bleach, so my level of tolerance for anime bullshit is really low, and only studio ghibli works manage to never go above zero in my anime-bullshito-meter. I actually believe that, when used correctly, anime is one of the best medium to discuss complex and adult themes.

  • I used to watch anime because of the compelling stories. Then I got fed up with the endless fillers and the creepy fan service. An exemple :

Not long ago, my bro highly praised an anime movie that supposedly had a serious and sad story that would make watch anime again. I stopped watching when in the first ten minutes there’s a body swap and the guy inside the girl body start groping themself in front of the mirror.

I only watch studio Ghibli movies anymore.

  • RedoxOS would likely never become feature complete enough to be a stable, useful and daily-drivable OS. It’s currently a hobbyist OS that is mainly used as a testbed for OS programming in Rust.

If the RedoxOs devs could port the Cosmic DE, they’d become one of the best Toy OS and maybe become used on some serious projects . This could give them enough funds to become a viable OS used by megacorps on infrastructures where security is critical and it may lead it to develop into a truly daily drivable OS.

  • The dev has 30 years of experience with c++ and a lot of it was on browsers.

He tried to incorporate rust with the help of “JT”, one of the original rust designers/devs and according to Andreas it didn’t work that well due to the web being too objet oriented or something like that. They both worked together (well, mostly “JT”) to create a new safe programming language called “yakt” that transpile to c++, but the project is currently pretty much dead because nobody is really working on it anymore.

    1. (BSD vs GPL) Andreas stated on twitter that he wanted to give devs total freedom to use his work because when he worked at Apple he felt frustrated he couldn’t incorporate some code/software into his work because of GPL.
    2. (Why?) The aim is not to create a chrome competitor, but to make a good enough, truly free browser that isn’t either chrome or funded by chrome. A browser made for and by its user’s.
    3. (Discord) Because of gen-z.
