Others have already provided links to the GitHub issue detailing this bug and a Microsift employee confirming this indeed seems to be a micrsoft error although another team than the terminal one as it also affects multiple other programs such as the screengrab tool and notepad.

It is much faster for the one giving the answer. Also, the looking up the man page is something you only do the first time. With the gui the user should also verify before blindly following instructions, but it is usually harder to find proper documentation of gui features than cli commands.

That is a fair point. They are dense, technical and at times pretty hard to read. But when a novice asks for help they are always going to either trust blindly or verify. Verifying can be a difficult task for a novice no matter if gui or cli is suggested. I do think most novices would trust the gui way more and feel more in control of it, even if they are basically doing the same thing.

There has been leaks that US intelligence are making moves to influence the greenlandic people using intelligence gathering to find pro secession and US elements in greenland. Any talk of the possibility of greenland joining the US as a real possibility only legitimizes an eventual takeover. Greenland has made it clear that they are not interested and that such talk is an insult and a threat to their sovereignty and self governance, current and future. I’ve used Godot a bit for hobby projects and I like it. I have only experimented with 2D games but it is the simplicity and flexibility of the scene system that really sets it apart for me, so that should carry over to 3D I imagine. I used Unity in the past (half a decade ago) and compared to that Godot feels more coherent as concepts just fit together in a way they didn’t in Unity. Once you understand scenes and how they communicate you can get pretty far. To achieve the same in Unity I had to learn of and understand more concepts to make it work. This may however also be colored by the fact that my learning Unity and learning programming overlapped so I didn’t have as much background knowledge back then.

As mentioned by another user it’s likely about the organization Palestine Action being designated a terrorist organization. This has caused about 700 arrests due to people protesting the designation of a group that never killed or hurt anyone as terrorists because they splashed some planes with red paint. Last time I heard an additional 60 protesters were arrested for supporting Palestine Action and officials said more arrests were likely coming.

I were unfortunate enough to get an assignment about sending messages to ServiceNow through a REST interface. The company had a team that managed ServiceNow, so I set up a meeting with one of the people there to get read access to the test environment so I could confirm that it worked. The person invited, then invited a coworker who in turn invited the manager of their department. During the meeting we got established how little they wanted my team to do anything that could affect the system due to how easy it was to make mistakes that took weeks or months to fix, how complicated it was and how many years it took to be proficient in. The whole thing was basically a lecture on how unequiped our team was to manage their system and how they didn’t want us to break it with changes we weren’t planning on making anyway. It took a few meetings after that to get credentials and when I got them I got admin access for some reason. That experience left me wondering why ServiceNow was even being used as it sounded like a liability more than anything else.

An example from work a few weeks ago. I fixed some vibe coded UI code that had made it to prod. The layout of the UI was basically just meant to be an easy overview of information relevant to an item. The LLM had done everything right except it assumed a weird mix of tailwind and bootstrap, mixing and matching css classes from both. After I implemented the classes myself it went from a single column view to grids and nested grids grouping the data intuitively. I talked with the dev who implemented it, and basically it was just something quickly cobbled together with AI until it was passable. The AI had added a lot of extra that served no function and that didn’t conform to a single css framework, but looked like it could. For months noone questioned it despite talk about that part of the UI needing a facelift.

I don’t know how representative it is, but about half the time I’m thoroughly confused about a piece of code and why it was written the way it was, the answer has turned out to be AI. And unlike when a developer wrote it, there rarely is any reason to have written it the weird way.

I switched to lemmy about two years ago and went almost cold turkey. There was one community on reddit that I returned to a couple of times in the first few weeks, but even that stopped as it just wasn’t worth it. I have been to reddit a few times since, but only when trying to solve a problem and reddit comes up as a search result, and only after trying other sources first.

So you are just going to state your false dichotomy fallacy outright? Yes different disorders have different symptoms and not all have the same effect on social functions. Just as I wouldn’t expect an amputated leg and a toothache to be the same in regards to their effect on running speed. Not all physical illnesses “either do or don’t make it more difficult to run” so why would all mental conditions “either make or not make one abusive”?

That may be true but for those literally being threatened with war it would be stupid not to act on the threats anyway. And your speculation that it’s a smoke screen sounds really dismissive the countries that now have to accept that the US might be or become the greatest security threat in decades.

I dual booted my study pc. Well technically I did. I didn’t use windows for a few months without thinking about it and by then I was too afraid of windows corrupting my linux if I ever booted it. So I effectively just had a Linux machine with half half the disk space. Never had a problem with it though.

The South Schleswig Danish minority have been mentioned in every new year’s speech I can remember. It’s basically part of acknowledging everyone who feels ties to the kingdom of Denmark. Near the german border there is a danish minority in Germany and a german minority in Denmark. And to my understanding as someone not living near there it is a respected cultural thing on both sides. It is not something about laying claim to it. In this particular speech the very next sentence is about the king and queen feeling just what you quoted during their visit those places that year and how they are looking forward to visiting the Faroese islands. For context the king was crowned in 2024 so this was commentary on the first royal visit of the new reagents.
