I feel like that’s a British thing. I remember the BBC always saying “Obarma” instead of Obama. Accents are weird.

I’ve seen the term before. Antiquated but it’s a word.

Yeah I agree. Don’t hate the player hate the game. I use dearrow though which is really nice.

I really like killing invasive plants. I think that’s probably my most niche passion. Like when I have some free time I’ll just go into the woods behind my house and cut down wisteria, ivy, Chinese holly… I just find it extremely satisfying idk. I love the idea that I’m clearing out space for native plants (and in turn native animals) to grow.

Tbh I don’t think there’s anything surprising about something so adrenaline-filled being addictive! Sounds like a really fun hobby.

Well, in theory it’s the responsibility of the banks to not make bad loans. If private equity passes on their debt to the company they bought, and then that company goes bankrupt and the private equity walks away free, that’s still the bank’s problem and they’re gonna lose a lot of money. Of course the problem is banks have a pretty bad track record about being disciplined with their loans.

That’s cool, but I’m sure it broke the relationship between ip addresses. Like it would be hard to tell if 1 IP was 1 higher or lower than another/ in the same /28 subnet, etc

I don’t personally feel bad that he is dead. The world is probably a better place without him in it. However, I’m disturbed by how gleeful some people are about his death. It shows how callous and radicalized people have become. I know a lot of people will jump in and say it’s rhe right’s fault things have gotten so radicalized, but that’s missing the point. Taking a life should never be easy.
I mean, sure, it’s mostly edgy people talking tough online. Give them Charlie Kirk in a dark alleyway and hand them a gun and 99% of them wouldn’t pull the trigger. But that social media environment does produce killers, and the kind of people it pushes over the edge tend to not be very stable and their actions tend to be pretty horrific. Probably the most famous Lemmy user to date is the man who bombed the fertility clinic. Let’s hope it stays that way.
“You have insufficient funds available on your payment method for an additional flip.”
Nah it works out the exact same. Say you make $10 every time you sell a $100 product. That means you have a 50/50 chance of either gaining $110 or losing $90. 110*0.5 + (-90)*0.5 = $10.

Ok cool, I might give that a try!

The more I learn about Bazzite the cooler it seems, but I’m not in a position to switch away from windows right now. Anyone had experience with running it dual-boot?
Lol Ploopy is real you know
Nah programs run fine on Linux - I just use CumSock emulator- it’s not officially compatible with Debian but you can install the flat pack with Ploopy. Make a few config changes and you’re off to the races!
Jesus christ that’s a cursed combination

That is very impressive! Although to be honest I question the accuracy of all those estimated power draws. I would be interested to see an endurance test of your battery- assuming your battery capacity is accurate, your runtime on a full charge should line up with your power draw.
The one thing I continue to love AI for is it is absolutely cracked at image recognition. Whats this plant? An aerial yam, duh! What’s this shower head? Well, the original manufacturer is gone but the exact same part is still being sold without a label - here’s the webpage we found a match on. That still amazes me.
But in general I hate how AI is just slowly rotting not just the internet and social media but just human talent and general. In 20 years we are not gonna have nearly as many young artists and writers because they have to compete with AI able to crank out slop for free. AI cannot (and in my opinion, almost by definition will never be able to) equal the very best artists and writers, but how are up and comers supposed to get to that level? Think of all the all time great creative people who started off just grinding as a cartoonist, background character, or pulp fiction writer. Those are gonna be the ones to go first. Instead of a, for example, 2 year pipeline to be able to scrape by pursuing a creative profession it could be a 10 year pipeline.
