Even at this time, this was an old computer. I remember the sticker on the front said it was built for Windows ME or one of the OSes from that era before Windows XP.

User complained that the computer was running very slow, slower than it realistically should.

I opened it up to clean it since I figured that was a good place to start.

The bottom of the chassis was disgusting. The dust had accumulated so much that it became a mound of dirt. And seated on top of the mound of dirt dust was a dead roach on its back.

Found literal bugs in the computer.

Instead of providing actual features the competitors have had for ages like the ability to talk using the console while playing a game, they add old ass games as a “bonus” since they make it impossible to play these any other way.

Typical Nintendo not even doing the bare minimum.

3D like the Fallout 3 we got as a FPS-like game or 3D like still top down but could rotate the camera, sort of like The Sims or Wasteland 2 or something else entirely?

Xbox 360. Best controller only slightly beat by the Xbox One/Xbox Series X because of USB type C but I miss that ergonomic feel of the 360 design and the Xbox metallic button with that light that told you which player you were.

Most of my favorite games are on that system or their first entries started there (Gears of War, Crackdown, etc.) and I had some good memories from that time in 2006-2009.

Also miss that classic Blades dashboard. Wish I could go back to some late night gaming with that UI and Halo 3/Call of Duty 4/Rainbow Six multiplayer or single player on Fable II and F.E.A.R.

The amount of money they make off credit cards is insanity. Not to mention the money they make off lending out other peoples’ money from their savings and the audacity they give back in savings is crazy.

It’s a play on the rap group “Run DMC” and instead “Run CMD” which is running Command Prompt on Windows which shows the C:\ while it waits for you to enter your command.

If you got rid of timezones, you’d still end up creating it in all but name since the vast majority of business will be occurring during daytime hours around the world. For example, an office in Tokyo sending emails to their NYC office at 0800 UTC (currently 0400 EDT in NYC) wouldn’t end up getting answered for at least 3-4 hours when those employees started logging in. In other words, people would still be doing calculations in their heads to know when business hours are in that region, essentially recreating timezones.

Not necessarily. In Teams, it shows the user’s specific hours they work as well as the time difference (this person is 2 hours behind you). All it would need is to remove the time difference and just display the time they work.

A person in Japan would just put in their signature or it would be in the application that they work from 0400 to 1200 while you still work 0800 to 1600 and you’d have your answer.

Damn, I was feeling a little pre-nostalgic for that era.

I worked with adults with developmental disabilities in my early adult life, specifically those with behavioral issues and some with gang affiliations (some of them may have been on the spectrum or may not have but used our program as a way out of jail/prison).

I got punched in the chest, spit in the face, threatened with stabbing, and more. I’m sure at some point I was either slapped or punched in the face too.

Went through this at work and we owned the device and it was a nightmare. They make you wait like 6 weeks for a single email that never came to us and we ended up forgetting about it by the time the 6 weeks was up.

Huh, always assumed that Firefox was much older than 2004. I remember using it in 2005/2006 for the first time.

It was mainly around Ubisoft’s The Crew as the latest conversation. This was about a month ago.

Ubisoft took the game offline and also removed from customers’ digital libraries with a message suggesting they try the newer installments in the series instead of the game they paid for.

You’re unfortunately correct. IT departments will just implement a new GPO to modify registry or otherwise hope to block this or pause this update until they absolutely have no choice and then hope for the best or hope to block it later down the line.

Yeah there have been some games that were being announced I was interested in. On Instragram, they have a very good algorithm for me about music. I’ve clicked a few that were legitimately interesting. Some were promoting a musical artist and I technically didn’t click the ad, itself, but I did go to YouTube to look up their music and give it a listen.
