  • Eh, maybe it’s different for people that only have to fill their tank every 3-4 weeks. I need to refill at least once per week so it’s rare I save any significant amount of money filling up 2 days before I regularly would.

I’m also not sure why everyone would have the same price in mind to start immediately filling their tank at the “cheap” price to trigger a 12% increase amongst 8 different chains of gas stations all at the same time.

Many would be waiting for a few cents more or already pulled the trigger a few cents before.

I just don’t think gasoline follows most free market supply/demand rules as much as most things.

Personally I don’t believe that’s the case. Most people fill up when they need to fill up not because it reached a magic price. It’s not like most people have a choice and can say they aren’t going to drive to work this week because gas needs to drop a few more cents before they go fill up.

  • It’s only a matter of time before Google doesn’t give you directions for the shortest and most efficient route, but rather plans your route to send you past the stores that pay the most in advertising.

“You could get to your destination by going down smith street fastest, but Glover Street has McDonald’s so we will send you down that road”

  • It shows little popup logos on the screen where the places are located, like a McDonald’s logo a few street over as you are driving by in your commute. I had it show me a Toyota logo for a Toyota dealership yesterday. Like, why do I need to know there’s a Toyota dealership there unless I’m specifically searching for it? Toyota probably paid them to show up a certain amount of times.

  • It’s pretty stupid to introduce ads on the pause screen. Usually I would pause something because I am either:

    A) Being interrupted and need to focus on something else like a phone call or a family member talking to me, and wouldn’t be paying attention to the screen anyways.

    B) Need to leave to go somewhere else like the fridge for a snack and wouldn’t be paying attention to the screen anyways.

    Or

    C) Just want to take a break and want to do something else which involves opening another window or program and wouldn’t be paying attention to the window with YouTube open.

In every scenario where I pause YouTube and add playing would not provide any value to the entity paying YouTube to play the ad.

And in every scenario, if an ad began playing when I pause youtube it would cause me to mute my sound and/or turn off my monitor and just cause me to get super annoyed at YouTube or at whatever product is being advertised and how to never buy it ever.
