I’ve experienced your second paragraph. Cops are not to be trusted.
If you use scented laundry products I hope your house burns to the foundation. It’s fuckin hot and I can’t open my window you piece of shit.

Sure, cop shows are like that as well. They are so unrealistic.
Replace all the social services your country has with a guaranteed basic income. Everyone gets it and it doesn’t run out like unemployment benefits. Another benefit, unlike welfare, is the person can keep working.
People believed in all manner of things without supporting evidence long before the internet arrived.
What about people’s overall health? Two years isn’t much but if a person’s last ten years is lived with less pain and more mobility that is something.
Medical technology has greatly improved. More people survive cancer, aids, surgery is far less invasive, and better medications.
Technology in general is getting better.
We have a faster internet. I love having access to so much information. Sure, there are far more gullible fools who believe in all manner of silly stuff but I feel the internet has done more good than bad.
This may happen to me once a week.
No, but I have done and said stuff that gives me an intense feeling of embarrassment when I recall the event.
Sounds like something a bot would ask.😄
100% agree. This morning I was thinking about a reply (didn’t have time before leaving for work) along these lines. But more of reporting to any nearby active shooter situation and helping the cops in exchange for a free gun and training. I like your idea as well.
How can fast food have an obsession?
OP also didn’t want this to be focused around USA gun rights.
In most countries, owning a gun isn’t a right, its a privilege.
That sounds good. I once had a job interview where bud was trying to piss me off to see if I had a temper. Something like that could be useful as well.
User pay. Just like buying the gun, driving a car, a boating license, or a hunting license.
The last thing I want in an active shooter situation is someone with more money than skill waving a gun around making the situation worse.
I think the right to have a gun should also include the legal requirement to take and pass a tactical shoot course. No point in having a gun if one can’t hit their target in a stressful situation. Paper target shooting isn’t good enough.
My phone is always in airplane mode. I use voip (which requires wi-fi ) so I have no need for a full time celltower connection. For the times I do have a data plan, I’ll turn off airplane mode when I need to use data.
I use the phone as an alarm clock but the phone never wakes me while dnd is on. It’s all about setting it up the right way.

Hugh Segal, Canadian Senator was in charge of a UBI study many years ago. He stated that if all of our government handouts, over 60 at the time, were replaced by a UBI the country would save several billion dollars.
I’ll try to find that study.
