It’s still stupid even if it’s required by law.
Admin of Feddit.dk. We try not to use non-EU suppliers and I don’t like the idea of depending so fully on something like Cloudflare. I could see us using an EU equivalent but don’t really see the need right now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner?
1·1 month agoSounds a lot like nihilism, perhaps with some moral relativism mixed in. Not saying that’s bad or good, just trying to put words to what you describe.

5·3 months agoI’m guessing he’s talking orchestral music with no lyrics. But “___ is not ideological” or “___ is not political” is exactly the sort of thing people say about stuff that is constantly political. It seems like he was just bought by Russia.

45·3 months agoFrom the guys Wikipedia page:
“In 2024 Moosdorf accepted a part-time honorary professor position at Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow.
The school, financed by Russia’s culture ministry, made headlines just days after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, when a staff member performed a concert wearing a black sweatshirt with the letter “Z” on it, which symbolizes support for Moscow’s war.
“Music knows no ideological boundaries,” Moosdorf wrote on Facebook, adding that accepting the professorship is “a sign of understanding.”
“I want to give the young people there [in Russia] the feeling that they are not left behind in Europe,” Moosdorf said. He added that he spent three days in Moscow in September to give an inaugural lecture and plans to go back a few days every quarter to teach chamber music”
Seems like a reeeaaal nice guy huh /s

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: you can stop Microsoft users from sending 'reactions' to your email by adding a "x-ms-reactions: disallow" header
17·4 months agoThe real stupid thing here is that a header has to be added to disable reactions. Why didn’t Microsoft just use a header to enable them? I mean make it opt in instead of opt out. Then they can use that header in all their Outlook shit and everyone else can go on with their day not worrying about it. So stupid, but not sure what I expected from Microsoft.
With Linux, I can change just about everything. If I want a real-time kernel, I can switch. If I want a different desktop environment, change. If I want more control from my keyboard, Linux has my back.
As much as I agree with the sentiment of the article, this is a terrible reason and more likely to scare people away from Linux rather than get them to install it.
If you know what a “real-time kernel” is, you’re probably already using Linux and you are a highly technically literate user. Any “normal person” user is going to look at that and think “Oh, I guess I need to understand technobabble in order to use Linux”. Normal users care about easy, preset defaults, not customization.
Once again, Linux adoption is kneecapped by its own users, who forget what normal people really care about.

I get what you’re saying here and mostly agree, but just want to point out that you are transferring a resource - your labour. So it is a bit more nuanced than this.

10·5 months agoI doubt they knowingly sponsored a project based on the developers’ political ideologies
But now they should know right? But the response makes it clear they don’t really care. They want to include everyone in the “big tent”, which clearly runs afoul of the paradox of tolerance. I am not a fan of their response.

This is so fucked. It’s literally legal for an AI to read pirated books to learn, but humans are not allowed to do this. AIs have more rights than we do already.
