Thank God. I’m so sick of seeing low effort reviews with one or two actual reviews on the front page. From copy paste ASCII art to listing every single disease in the world when reviewing a bad game. And don’t even get me started on the “if this gets [blank] I’ll do [blank]” reviews

Let’s be real though, they are only so expensive to produce because they have the notion that bigger and more expensive means better. Just look at what happened with Starfield. You can’t tell me that game wouldn’t be immensely better if there were just like 8 or even less planets. You don’t need to make things as massive and expensive as possible to make a successful game. You just need to have a good idea with a good execution. I’ll play a game like Deep Rock Galactic or RimWorld over and over again, but I got bored of Destiny within a year or so. Heck, I’ve probably put more hours into the Halo games over my life than I ever will in Destiny.

I feel like this can be age and maturity specific as well. When I was like 14 to like 21 I was a love bomber. I had never been in a real relationship and I didn’t understand how to express myself. To my misfortune, the only thing I had to go on was movies. It’s the same kinda situation like having unrealistic expectations about sex by watching too much porn. Because of this I always went over the top thinking that’s what you were supposed to do. I didn’t understand the differences between infatuation and love until I had my first real relationship. Put a lot of things into perspective after that and I realized how much of an asshole I was being.

You should definitely know the signs and should definitely do what is listed. I’m just saying sometimes it comes from confusion and ignorance and not just malice and manipulation. The issue isn’t black and white. But at the same time, even if someone is doing it out of ignorance I still believe everything above is true.

I’m not sure what my point is besides sharing my experience. I guess that sometimes the one love bombing might just be someone that is lonely and isolated and doesn’t know what to do. But that shouldn’t change how you react to them. Boundaries are important and this can easily be a very bad situation even if they are a good person.

I still try my best to do what I can. But at the same time I’ve come to terms with the fact that we’re all fucked and everything I’m doing is pointless. But I’d rather do what I can and strive to do better than give up and make things worse. I have completely selfish reasons for doing my part and it’s literally just because I’d feel like an asshole.

To be fair I don’t think I’ve seen good things about Micro$oft in years. I’m honestly not surprised.

I try not to be an asshole and I just like sharing my opinion. I just like to bitch about the general state of affairs for various things. Be it video games or politics, I’ll bitch about anything I find to be awful. I think I do it because I want to try and help people understand why a situation is fucked up or shouldn’t be happening. For example how so many video game companies are just laying off all their employees for whatever reason they want to give you. I just like to call out bullshit when I see it. Sometimes I come off as rude when really I’m just mad that it’s happening and not really bitching about the users making the posts or comments but more towards the bullshit situations.

And I like “colorful” words.

Once Windows 10 is unsupported I’m abandoning Windows entirely. When I always used the excuse that gaming was better on Windows, which definitely used to be the case. But these days most of the games I regularly play are compatible on Linux and the others you can use workarounds. Literally unheard of when I was a kid.

Unfortunately, my work computer has to have Windows 11 and it’s been nothing but problems. Half the software I need to use crashes or has performance issues.

My general rule of thumb when it comes to this is that if they say “due to rising costs” within the first few sentences it usually means “not enough money for the important people.”

I’ve seen indie devs make more functional and graphically intensive games on a shoe string budget. And then go around and sell it for less than $60.

I don’t mind it if the game was always free to play. They gotta make their money somehow if that’s the case. The problem I have with Overwatch and the microtransactions is that they went free to play after they already made a fuck ton of money off of loot boxes and the fact that you used to actually have to buy the game. It’s just a cash cow and gameplay (including matchmaking, like you said) has suffered considerably. Not only that but they charge as much money as entire games for skins. Games like Overwatch when it first came out.

I don’t mind microtransactions in free to play games, I really don’t. It’s just the method they are using is just blatantly greedy and targeted for whales that will pay anything for fear of missing out.

Well, they also sell weapon skins that cost as much as the entire game used to cost. So I’m sure they are just trying to do damage control while also not changing their monetization.

Honestly I haven’t heard any good news about Microsoft in like 10 years. They just keep making awful decisions.

Never really thought about that but that makes a lot of sense.

That was one of My favorite things about Crunchyroll. I love going through the comments after finishing a series and seeing what others were thinking. I know anime fans can be pretty crazy, but I very rarely saw toxic comments. It was mostly people talking about a shared experience and was surprisingly wholesome the majority of the time. I even got some good recommendations about what to watch next because of it too

When it comes to protesting like this I don’t really give a shit if someone paints over parts of a building. But the books themselves? That’s just fucked up. I understand they are trying to get people pissed over this but this is entirely the wrong way to do it. All this will do is make everyone pissed off at you instead. I’d say a good rule of thumb for protest graffiti is whether or not it can still be used after it’s been covered in paint. Graffiti on a wall doesn’t make the wall unusable. But if someone put graffiti on the windshield of my car I’d be so pissed off I wouldn’t give two shits about the message.

We’re all kids. We just have responsibility now so we have to pretend we don’t want to sit around and play with Legos all day. None of us have “figured it out” and the only reason it seemed like adults knew what they were doing when we were kids was because adults were old enough to have fucked everything up at least once.

This is a very common thing outside the bubble that is the US. In fact, before COVID it was totally normal to see people wearing masks when they were sick in public places. A little strange to see, but still normal and nobody really cared. People didn’t give two shits back then versus now where they stick out like a sore thumb. Before you’d see someone wearing a mask and think “oh, they might be sick” and move on with your life before you even had a chance to put it into your long term memory. It’s not that it’s weird to wear a mask. It’s that everyone forgot that it used to not be weird at all. The fact that they are getting judged in the first place would seem completely ridiculous 5 years ago.

The fact that there is a stigma in the first place is incredibly silly. Masks are a great tool to prevent getting others sick. It’s like if someone made fun of you for using a screwdriver instead of doing it by hand.

I wear one when I’m sick. Outside of places like the United States it’s actually very common to wear masks when you are sick. There used to not be a stigma about masks even in the US before COVID. This is because masks were never meant to be used as a way to prevent getting sick but as a way to not get others sick, therefore slowing the spread of disease. Somewhere over the past few years the lines got crossed and everyone started calling masks bullshit because they misinterpreted the actual use for them. Doctors don’t wear masks because they don’t want to get sick. They wear them so they don’t get their patients sick.

I wish Valve had some sort of monetary incentive to fix this. If this happened to the cash cow that is Counter Strike this would have been fixed already. It’s sad to see this going on especially with the resurgence TF2 has been having lately.
