It’s not about having accurate dates, it’s about how unix time is used in programming. For some systems that reference unix time for essential calculations, that value rolling over and overflowing would cause catastrophic problems

I have over 20 gnome extensions and I haven’t seen an update break one in the past year I have been running Fedora. Even the Fedora 40-41 upgrade gave me no issues
Why does that surprise you? It’s the reasoning almost every homophobe gives
Coke never has the water button on it though
Notice how the Japanese media frames the whole thing as the “wartime labor issue” to further try to distance themselves from their atrocities
This product is not for you, individual consumer. This is for corporations who don’t want the overhead of managing individual PCs and everything that can go wrong with them, instead relying on virtual workspaces and roaming user profiles.
72 hours, insomnia. They first put me on benzos, then trazodone, then finally Lunesta was able to get my brain working fully again. The benzos were interesting because I didn’t really feel like I slept when I was on it? Like it just erased my memory of the sleepless night
I love how his last name is pronounced “to share a” and he did, in abundance
I think it’s easy to understand Mastodon, or any federated service, using a metaphor for a country or large place, where you can say “I want to move to X country” but then you have to actually pick a place IN that country to live, like a specific city or rural district. Once you decide on your instance, it’s really not that hard
Bulettes, obviously
Things seem to have improved in the last 5 years, so maybe give it another shot. I’m on Fedora 40 with gnome and lots of extensions, and I’m constantly tinkering with it to make it look just right (for fun, not that I feel like I have to). Nothing catastrophic has happened yet!🤞
I love how people will complain about ads on YouTube and then go on to complain that PeerTube sucks because “who’s going to pay the hosting fees?” 🙄 For the record I like PeerTube but Android clients are ass right now
Maybe that was true in the past but not anymore https://www.cbsnews.com/news/surfers-killed-mexico-what-we-know-jake-callum-robinson-jack-carter-rhoad/ Mexico is a failed state
'Tis a shame your image left out the OG
English culture around “image” is sooo toxic, exemplified by this and the Lucy Letby case. Rather let babies die and cover it up than admit you’re not perfect
Megalodon is a good client, forked from a recent version of the official Mastodon app for Android (which is a fine client in itself). Megalodon also supports some extra features that some instances opt for via a forked backend, but it’s fully compatible with all instances. Here’s are some good place to find instances https://mastodon.fediverse.observer/list https://fedidb.org/software/mastodon
cmake debugger
I use this one in vscodium https://open-vsx.org/vscode/item?itemName=ms-vscode.cmake-tools
There are cmake debuggers where you can walk through exactly what it’s doing line by line
What a heartwarming story
I started watching Enterprise recently feeling the same way you do, and it’s honestly not that bad. The way they talk to each other and the overall vibe is VERY Next Gen, and it’s interesting how they’re 100ish years in the future while TOS is 200 years in the future, so their technology and even uniforms look almost exactly halfway between our tech and stuff and what we see in “traditional” Trek. The theme song though is definitely whack
