World News@lemmy.world•Liz Truss tells CPAC UK is ‘failing’ and needs Maga-style movement to save itEnglish
3·1 year agoFUCK no. At least it’s coming from truss, who is trying to be relevant. That’s all. Anything with her name on it is doomed to fail.

15·1 year agoNo, but it implies that the brand has attained a certain level of quality to the point where some rich pleb sponges have decided they rather like it. The papers want to know who’s shirts you wear…

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that United has significantly escalated their war against basic economy passengers
3·1 year agoDepends. It was dogshit when it launched, but now I get over 100mbps down. I did have to relocate the wireless modem box they gave me, though. And of course, YMMV, as did mine at launch.

Similar, perhaps. I enjoyed visiting Costco in England and devouring jacket (baked) potatoes with Heinz baked beans (I’m aware this is Lemmy…), Shepherd’s Pie and a hot cup of Yorkshire Tea - so the menu is localised too.
I don’t remember if they also had the typical American fare when I was there, because I was more interested in the British cuisine I had missed so much. They may have had the froyo and hotdogs. Im certain there must have been pizza, surely.
Reminds me of when I aliased ‘man’ to ‘rtfm’
Spoiler tags have been broken in Boost for a while. 😔 They render correctly in other apps, and also on the instance’s web UI. Hopefully this can get fixed soon.
“clipped” - you just reminded me of that episode of House, where the clinic patient (tw: gross) has been using his toenail clippers to trim his nose hair, and he developed a fungus.
PSA - Buy a trimmer specific for that purpose.
Mvp comment there. I checked mine and I am in the US, on a phone I originally bought on credit. I do not have that app installed. Go figure. 🤷♂️
Definitely worth checking out your app list to make sure. I wonder if it accidentally came downstream from AOSP into the alt ROMs, and that’s why it’s not in my stock, proprietary, US market, flagship Google pixel device.

The least annoying reader on Android I’ve found is moon reader pro. It feels a lot worse to me than maple reader on iOS though.
Try Librera from F-Droid. I only wanted a pdf reader, and got that and an epub reader/ebook manager too. Apparently it’s also good for music manuscript too but I haven’t used it for that.
Nemo on Windows can read extfs partitions better than NTFS plays with Linux. It’s more of a problem with proprietary file systems, not the open source file manager trying it’s best to reverse engineer the protocol.
When I dual booted, I would just share the extfs partition because it worked the best on both systems, once the extfs driver for Windows was installed.

Boost for Lemmy@lemmy.world•[Wishlist] Android intent for instance linksEnglish
1·2 years agoIt’s close, but not as elegant as it was in Boost for reddit.
Now the links open in Boost, but Boost is reduced to an android webview around the interface of my instance, instead of rendering the interface (loading inbox, displaying comments, etc) in Boost like it used to.
I was using Voyager for the past few months while waiting for Boost to become available, and I agree - this is leaned behaviour I can’t stop automatically doing now.
I’ll say it has. TIL. I didn’t even know there was a button. I only knew about the long-press menu to download an image…

I used to subscribe to Linux format! I got the back issues on exactly/Exact Editions too, so for a while I could also view every issue on my android tablet. Those were the days.
I don’t even know if Exactly is still around anymore.
Edit - nope, I was thinking of New Humanist magazine, oops. But I did used to get Linux Format through the door. I remember they used to have rackspace ads on the plastic weather cover
