  • Could not agree with you more. Best time for our industry to get serious about unionization was probably after the .com bubble burst. We could have leveraged the degree to which our skills were needed in that era and headed off a lot of today’s problems if we had strong unions in place, but sadly it’s still probably one of the lowest density sectors for organized labor. Now would be a good time to start pulling heads out of asses. I think many of our brothers and sisters in tech are starting to wake up to reality now that we’re in our 5th-6th straight year of widespread layoffs for “reasons.”

It can start with honest and direct 1on1 convos in order to thwart groupthink nonsense, and build on things from there. A simple organizing committee is a great first step.

  • 2 double espressos to start the day, 3-4 more singles throughout the day. Cutoff for coffee is 7pm, and I usually have 1-2 hot green teas in the evening to wind down.

It’s one of my last remaining vices of significance, very tough for me to get going without caffeine and I get a headache by mid afternoon if I don’t get me some by then.

I’m surprised at most of the people in this thread with their minimal intake. Good for you I guess. To the boofers: I get it, but just not for me.

  • Good points, but the contention between branches is just kabuki theatre. It’s fake bro. There are always a rotating cast of “spoiler villains,” and if too many of them are facing reelection then they just make something up like “senate parliamentarian won’t let them.”

If the Dem president actually wanted to get something done then he’d use the bully pulpit like Trump does to make it so. This happened approximately 0 times during Biden’s 4 year slumber.
