I agree, user choice is important, which is why I use Linux :) (GNOME)
I like being given a workflow designed by UX engineers, it means I don’t have to think about it and I can just do my work instead of figuring out the best workflow.
My opinion is that computers should stay out of the way as much as possible. It’s an appliance.
Different workflow, macOS does not expect you to snap windows. I’m not 100% familiar with the macOS workflow, but I know it’s different.

1·12 days agoI also found that using agents to write code for you leaves you with unintelligible code that you have to reverse engineer.
I found it useful for PoCs, but not for something that goes into production unless I want to spend the same amount of time it would have taken me to write the code myself understanding and detangling the generated code.

That’s the cost of compression. You lose the source material, so it may hallucinate a bit.

It would need to be implemented in the compositor.
Either as a Wayland protocol that a patched version of xscreensaver can hook into, or baked into the compositor.
The compositor is the most analogous replacement to the xorg server. It would be Mutter on GNOME or KWin on KDE.
I had to purchase a new dashcam recently, and I specifically picked up one that could save to a USB C SSD instead of its SD card because my previous VIOFO A129 would constantly corrupt its SD card.
