4·23 天前Still feels crazy though how aware you’re forced to be about ads lurking in every corner. I check many of these boxes plus some others, use independent OSs, 3rd party apps etc. And still, although I hardly see any ads, they are so present just lurking under the surface.
Good example are sponsor comments in yt videos/podcasts. Some I can filter out with Sponsorblock, but the little video glitch reminds you every time that you have to stay safe. Podcast ads can easily be slipped with the fast forward button, but if you’re washing the dishes etc., sometimes you can’t react directly.
It’s really insane how ads are just everywhere these days.

1·1 个月前Moving 2-3 (?) fingers on your touchpad to the left or right will get you to load the previous/next page.
Easy to do accidentally, no discoverability except in situations where you do it accidentally and get annoyed by it.

41·1 个月前In theory I guess, but in practice we have diesel engine ships and all sorts of dynamics with pollution (e.g., using more dirty diesel that’s forbidden but not in international waters etc).

Depending on your goals, you could try to find used components that are incompatible with windows 11 but still perhaps powerful enough as this guy explains:

7·1 个月前Hard to say without more context. I’d check the existing distributions and pick one that suits you. Their websites usually have lists with compatible devices.
PostmarketOS is interesting for tinkering, grapheneOS just works reliably. Everything else in between



Good point, I hadn’t thought about the entire post apocalypse genre. But I was rather thinking about something similar to a strategy game like Tropico or SimCity, just in that setting
