  • people have to physically click on it in order to see it, it doesn’t just show up as an image post. at least not in boost

I guess it depends on the chosen post view.

If you use the add image button next to the url it will be visible. If you add it in the body, you have to go into the post to see it.

    edit:

it shows up as a link instead of an image. I just want my post to be the title, and the picture.

This is the link to the uploaded image. It is normal.

If we are talking about links it is worth mentioning that the image is hosted by the instance on which you post. When you do a crosspost do not insert the image again manualy just use the crosspost function it will duplicate the link to the earlier image. This way you do not upload it twice.

  • Lemmy aggregates all posts with the same links as crossposts. In fact, you don’t have to use the crosspost function, but it adds a link to the main post in the description which is cool. It gives you more awareness that it’s a duplicated post and can link to a community that is not federated and thus doesn’t display as a crosspost.

edit: I guess posts without a linked article, video or photo are not displayed as crossposts. In that case, there is nothing left to do but to add information in the post that this is a crosspost and add a link to the original.
