  • It’s quite frightening to see how fast these AI models have improved during the last few years. You can still spot errors in the videos, but how long will it take until you can’t do that anymore?

It sounds terrifying to not know what’s real or not anymore. And also, these videos will put a lot of people out of jobs, especially in the creative industry. Who needs someone following a car with a drone anymore, when you can just generate that footage on the fly?

  • Tentatively called “Alexa Plus,” the paid version of Alexa is intended to offer more conversational and personalized AI technology, said one of the documents obtained by Business Insider.

But the quality of the new Alexa’s answers is still falling short of expectations, often sharing inaccurate information, external tests have found.

Do they really expect people will pay for a large language model making up results on-the-fly?

“If this fails to get revenue, Alexa is in trouble,” one of the people told BI.

I will not shed a tear when Alexa gets shut off, to be honest.

  • It’s gotten really worse over the last year or so. They try to be overly “intelligent” by suggesting search phrases you didn’t even input, watering down the results.

I’m a web developer and when I google for “string”, I don’t want to get results for “yarn” to put in a fake extreme example. Rewording my search phrases is one of the worst features they ever introduced. I know what I’m looking for and I don’t need assistance with that.

Google even started ignoring operators sometimes. Back in the good old days you were able to put a word into quotations to tell the engine it must be included in the results. Now when I do this it only mostly works but when they run out of results they just go back to the default behaviour of including everything that might loosely fit the search phrase.

It feels like Google is afraid to show you no results, as if that was a crime or something.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Bing works so much better for me when I look up specific error messages etc.

  • At least their bigger WH models (and the MDR1000X) have replaceable batteries. Sony just tends to stop manufacturing those very quickly, but there are 3rd party ones.

The biggest gripe I have with Sony is their ear pads. They are just so fucking expensive. I wear mine every day because I live in a very noisy neighborhood. The pads are no good anymore after a year or so.

New pads for the WH1000XM5 cost over hundred dollars, last I checked. And they only had black ones available which is really nice when you bought the white model…

Added to that, most of the functionality depends on an app only available for Android and iOS. Have fun trying to adjust your equalizer settings when you’re sitting at a PC.

Also…why can’t I use the most expensive and latest Sony headphone with a Sony PS5? I don’t get it. They want you to buy a different Sony headset if you want to use Bluetooth with the PS5 which is just stupid.

If it wasn’t for their excellent noise cancelling, I wouldn’t buy these things anymore.

  • I’m not sure. My comment is still up and it’s a really pissed off one. Might be the YT antispam script triggered by words like sex and Onlyfans, which I didn’t use in my comment for that exact reason.

I mean, they already fucked up big time. If they now delete comments and it gets out, they’re digging their own grave. There’s also a lengthy discussion on their official forums which they haven’t shut down yet.

If the allegations about the sexual topics are true (like managing the OnlyFans account and having to see other people’s junk, being told to twerk for a coworker and getting asked about “how she liked to fuck”) LTT is in some serious trouble.

No sponsor in their right mind wants to be associated with a bunch of grown men sexually assaulting their female coworkers. If this isn’t cleared up totally and publically, LTT will lose a lot of sponsors and this can seriously hurt them.

When the employee handbook leaked a few months ago and this was mostly ignored by Linus except him making a rant about the company not needing unions because they’re so great, that was already very suspicious to me. It seemed like just another hustle culture company trying to sweep things under the rug. Well, looks like it was not just a feeling…
