It could be a play on words based on the root verb 切る (cut). 切ろ死 (kiroshi) could then mean something like “cut to death”, a very reassuring name for a surgical implant corporation.

The main problem with Windows (regarding GUI, there are many other issues) is that it’s never consistent. It changes with the mood of Microsoft’s execs and their need to set the trend, while at the same time having a pretty poor grasp of what the trend is. Look at Windows XP, Vista, 7 and then Win 8. Where’s the consistency? The nice thing about Linux is that you don’t have people on top telling you what the system to control your (“this”) computer will look like, whether you like it or not. On Linux, you control how your system will look, feel and behave. It’s your computer.

Known as 過労死 (karoshi) in Japan, sadly not a new concept. This is the result of the misconception that working harder will yield better results - it only leads to stagnation and ruin. Hoping that more people will realise this and initiate some change in the work culture; not only in Asia, but in the West too… The work culture in both the US, UK and many parts of the EU needs some serious overhaul.

The rattan is soaked in water before they use it, so even the most limp-wristed excuse for a swing would still hurt like shit.

Follow-up question: when will the world’s most heavily-armed populace decide that enough is enough and start shooting their oppressors instead of eachother?

It still boggles my mind that Americans believe this is normal.

My preferences often stray onto darker paths, but why not both? https://youtu.be/VhoHnKuf-HI

Being old and stubborn matters. ;)

Ummm, the features you described are all in Vivaldi. Browser engine is Blink (Chromium). My experience with it has been that it’s very fast and stable. I’ve used Opera since about version 6. My nostalgia is real.

The developers who wanted to keep the original philosophy of Opera alive moved on and formed Vivaldi instead. I recommend you try it. It certainly gave me a nostalgic sense of what Opera used to be, and has a lot of useful new features.
I agree! It might not be the most open one out there, but it’s still a damn fine piece of software. Basically Opera if Opera hadn’t gone the wrong way.
I’m responsible for print in my company. Printers are spawned from Satan’s sphincter and only want to see humanity suffer.
American millennials are a whole different game. I’m a pampered European social democrat. Saw the election results from New York and thought: “Good for them… He’s a bit on the conservative side by our standards, but a step in the right direction”. 😆
Hey, don’t leave early millennials out. We’re in our 40’s and barely left square 1.

To be fair, the research is on regenerating, not regrowing. I wouldn’t expect regrowing lost teeth to be possible any time soon, unless some kind of bio 3D-printing method became available.

“Dental enamel has a unique structure, which gives enamel its remarkable properties that protect our teeth throughout life against physical, chemical, and thermal insults,” said lead author Dr. Abshar Hasan
This man doesn’t just disapprove of people mistreating their teeth, he is personally insulted by it. A true dentist.
The Haradrim swore allegiance to Sauron after long years of oppression by the Númenóreans and conflict with Gondor, during which Sauron worked to seduce them to his side. However, not all of them joined Sauron. Many sided with the blue wizards. You could draw parallels to modern times; not all Russians support Putin, and not all Iranians support Khomeini.
It’s worth mentioning Dunlendings also went the same way after excessive Númenórean exploitation of their natural resources and resulting wars. They fought for Saruman (Sauron by proxy) alongside Uruk-hai in Helm’s Deep.
Of course the Haradrim were dark-skinned - they were from the southern hemisphere of Arda, the huge landmass south of Gondor and Mordor. Most of it is on or below the equator.
Compare that to the Russian casualties. Reminds me of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
