World News@lemmy.world•Polymarket Iran Bets Hit $529 Million as New Wallets Win BigEnglish
101·2 days agoSoooo where does the money come from? I haven’t looked into it but I imagine they just have odds on events like this. How does this not bleed polymarket dry? If people are betting big and winning on low chance outcomes, polymarket has to account for that money somewhere. If it happens more often than the odds would allow, they should be losing money.

14·7 days agoR&d on these I’m guessing takes a little while. And it greatly depends on what niche they fill. Like the poster above said these might have lower density. For applications that move, that’s not usually good. How sensitive are they to hot and cold? That could necessitate thermal management.

6·9 days agoYup. Was just looking mine up and it seems like any material is illegal. If it only affected visibility from certain vertical angles I might be willing to give it a go.

6·9 days agoHrmm. Double checked my state law. I think most of those would run afoul of that. Are there versions that are visible within certain ranges vertically but all ranges horizontally? I think that might still run afoul but would be less likely to be caught just driving around.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What tourist destinations do you think are NOT overrated?
9·13 days agoReminds me of the Parks and Rec line from Ron Swanson. Something about only two things that are acceptable for a man to cry over. I forget the first one but the second was the Grand Canyon. I’m in no way ashamed to say that place got a tear in my eye.

60·17 days agoGrand jury. What little I’ve read keeps saying they tried for manslaughter. Also from what I’ve read, based on the dad’s own statements he’s clearly guilty of a number of crimes that aren’t manslaughter. So it’s possible there’s some nazi-esque camaraderie here and the prosecutor intentionally flopped to get no charges. I’m not exactly sure how grand juries work on that front. Could they have tried for a lower level charge, then once the rest of the investigation uncovers things they just bump the charge up to the appropriate level of would they need to reconvene a grand jury? Could the grand jury have considered multiple levels of charges?

Just had a crazy thought. What if that’s their plan for retaliation? What are they going to do, go toe to toe with the US military? Fucking suicide. Attack the assets of the real power in America. Cost the billionaires money and they’ll go crying to trump to end the war.
