Sadly we don’t have huge choice. I think gpodder wirks on windows: https://gpodder.github.io/ and does the job.

It is truly upsetting to see how complicated for use password managers are.
I grow up around computers and I can barely mange them. Other people just don’t understand how to use them, it is complicated and inconvenient. Even after I set them up and show them multiple times, friends don’t manage.
In browser password managers cover 90%, but I guess web sites and apps need to start testing UX for password managers. Some of them introduce stupid flows that brake all of them.
Android is complete shit show.
It is not users, but applications and UX that doesn’t care about security.
If you need CUDA for certain applications in example, its better to use Nvidia.
Depends on budget. PyTorch works nicely on ROCm and, for me, bigger constraint is available VRAM than GPU speed and looks like AMD has cheaper RAM, comparing their cheapest 16GB cards AMD is 33% cheaper than Nvidia where I live, and there was some card 45% cheaper few months ago. Huge savings if on limited budget.
Short answer: No.
If someone is being finaned by ads, they are doing something wrong. That is not sustainable nor secure, especially if one wants to reamin truthful.
Ads are used to control media, and are a bad thing. Also ads are not problem, bit random JavaScript executed on my computer is.
Put paywall (just don’t push it into my search without marking it as paywall), Patreon, sell hats and t-shirts… there are better ways.
Because it works and we didn’t need to change anything in the last 20 years. I don’t even think about it.
Whenever I try something else, problems come as soon as I want something that’s not default. Which is often.
I don’t even know how to install Gentoo. I did it two times, second time was when upgrading to 64bit architecture.
I also thing we just need to find use cases where it is working.
While it will not solve everything, it did solve some things. Like you have found, I have used it for generating simple artwork for internal documents, that would never get design funding (even if it would I would have spent much more time dealing with designer), rewriting sentences so it sounds better, grammar check, quick search engine, enciclopedia, copywriting some non important texts…
I would pay few bucks per month if it wasn’t free. I gave it to grammarly and barely use it.
So I guess next step is just reducing cost of running those models, which is not that hard as we can see by open source space.
I haven’t seen anything about that in the article, I would like to see some text about it. Especially from whom?
Especially since they use MIPS architecture while Intel and AMD x86 are CISC. So… probably not the whole process?
On the other hand, even if true, China doesn’t have same view on what “original” means as we in the west have. Vase made in the same way as in 16th century is “original 16th century vase”. Different culture.
It really depends on your needs. 3D printing community is very satisfied with FreeCAD, and GIMP is great for my needs when I need to find a way to increase visibility of some features in drone images and than make python script to repet it hundreds of times. No way I could do it in in PS. Making it run under wine already takes too much time.
And it is not only about money for license but about freedom.
I always see coments like this, and while I appreciate sharing of experience it is just being boring. At least add something specific and don’t be a bot.
Strange is using and marketing someone else’s name without written permission.
Why do you think linux distros and free software have such strange names? To avoid stepping on someone toes without expensive trademark research.
And relying on marketing by someone you don’t control is not good decision even if losing some mind share.
I am in the linux world 20+ years. Used SUSE for short amout of time back than and never really cared much about it, just glad it still exist.
This is the first time I am hearing openSUSE is not part od SUSE.
Having different name should be good for all. I think openSUSE people should have done it long time ago. But sounds like name is not the only problem.
I don’t have solution for videos, but I am moving back to podcasts and rss as much as possible. I want to be ready when they finally forbbid watching without ads.
But I must admit content creators are not helping, content for most of them become just job to be done with. I am aware it is not their fault and that yt is pushing them, but content is geting worse.
It is hard to compete with platform that is loosing so much money. They will also buy anyone who tries. Maybe if we start being satisfied with one resolution and quality, but that will never happen.
Not only that, I am certain Google will put as much money as needed into it not to allow any competing platform.
YT is not profitable, but gives them data, power and control.
They are not PR people, don’t expected that of just normal people having fun. No one is promising “chrome killer coming in six months”.
Thig is that for SerenityOS they want to make everything from scratch, ssh, ssl, libraries, utils, text editor… even the browser. They could have just porr Firefox, but that was not the point. To use it you had to complile whole OS.
But since browser got some attention and sone complex sites (like guthub and twitter) started working in it, to make project more viable they are dropping this constraint for browser. I guess they migt use some gui library, ssl lib, codecs… stuff like that. But, I expect, they will not use others code for rendering engine and js, but continue with implementation from documentation.
While some in this thread say they are racist, homophobic and stuff. Maybe some are maybe just not polished for public speak, do we really think everyone in google is totally clean?
I always wondered why they haven’t been doing it from the start, seams like it is not as simple as I imagine.
People will take it, there is no other option and G is working hard not to allow another video platform.
Problem is ads they are playing are awful and loud. We will make way to silent them and black them out, it is not hard.
Bigger problem is content they are pushing is getting bad and is pushing creators into burnout. And I don’t want to see videos companies are creating, but want individual contributions.
This is news from September and linked blog post from December. Nothing happened.
It still costs money for hardware and hosting. Scraping web and training AI ain’t cheap.
It is, it has -9 points right now. While unpopular opinion, I agree with it if you like the content.
I use it, but I am trying to move to podcast and other platforms as much as possible.
Error would be if they removed GMaps or Gmail from Play store, this is sabotage.
Play store is 99% some kind of scum, but they found open source app that community likes and is providing service comparable to their app. Yeah, right.
If they don’t want us to call it sabotage, they should be extra careful about apps that are providing same service as them.
