Mum of a trans daughter here.I just thought AHA that explains some things. I had long expected her to come out as gay, trans hadn’t occurred to me. I support and love her best I can.It has been a pretty steep learning curve and trying to get her on various waiting lists was a nightmare.

But she is having her nose op today and Adams apple if all goes to plan (its the NHS,). I really do not care,she is my daughter and her happiness is the most important thing. I do worry a lot though,it is dangerous out there for her.

Great-grandma was 103 when she died, she was born in 1899 and saw so many changes in her life. I remember her sitting on the porch smoking her pipe and telling me of her life. Even when she was very old she still took delight in so many things. Her favorite in the whole world was her television. As a teenager, she would sneak of to watch movies at the local cinema, that was just a room with a bunch of chairs set up. So when televisions came out she was over the moon. My grandmas both lived to 100, grandma died in March this year. I doubt I will live that long what with plastic in our bodies and brains.

I don’t think it is only techy nerds, I am a granny and much prefer Lemmy. I no longer feel nervous when posting here at all as people are polite and are actually interested in discussion rather than simply arguing. And the premise that there can never be only one person in control is refreshing.

It has,this is a land grab. Israel is creating hard infrastructure for a prolonged occupation and to create more settlements. They are quite open about it.
