syncthing was new to me. i found it pretty intuitive to set up and am now an enjoyer.

i guess the moral question is whether that’s arguably significantly more humane than skipping the severing step. to me it seems possibly unknowable; either way the thing does suffer the slaughter and the question is to what degree. if there’s any culinary or other practical advantage to doing it, and folks believe it’s more humane, why not…

kdeconnect worked very well for me to transfer between phone platforms. interface is pretty intuitive. ios app doesnt save settings and crashes when you try checking them but it works anyway. one of my oldest fantasies with the smartphones is being able to directly share music between phones with friends nearby and this app seems to make it begin to be possible.

we tried it with mobile browsers but it kills the connection immediately when entering the file picker on android. no joy with this one.

i got the localsend functions to work ok but it was still a wretched experience for everyone

probably not a lot of public stats on e.g. deaths per mile with those scoots. though i bet the companies have that.

the cars do have some safety systems, vs zipsquat for the scoots. my impression is that your average scooter rider may be less cautious and less aware than your average cyclist, at least in my town, for what that’s worth.

whatever you go with, pay attention to the rates, they’re coming down just about everywhere
