Won’t work at either outlet. I’ll try digging to see if I have another cable, but this one is brand new out of the box.
It’s weird because I was moving and flipping it every which way while building it, but picking it up straight and walking 5 steps from my table to my router is what killed it.

I did try all those things as a sanity check. I also tried unplugging everything from the PSU and motherboard and plugging them back in and still no lights :(

I’m not denying that these features are a welcome addition, I’m just lamenting the loss of the cheaper version for use-cases where those features arent really needed.
I pretty much just watch Youtube on my bedroom TV, and I got one for my mom so she can watch Netflix on her 10 year old 720p 32”. I don’t want to pay $100 for that.
I might get the new one for Steam Link in the living room though, that does sound sick.
I get what you’re saying, but these new ones are twice the price of the 4K Chromecast. It sucks that they’re killing the $30 HD Chromecast as well, its great for my spare TV. I wouldn’t want to pay 3x that price for essentially the same functionality if I need to replace it.
I know there’s other Android TV boxes that are comparable, but Google’s offering was an easy go-to.
Airpods are more about convenience than sound quality. Not sure how cameras factor in there though.

I think people that see these numbers as low does not realize that tons of people don’t work in front of a screen full-time, and the average would include children and the elderly

I hate greedy corporations as much as the next guy, but manufacturers are not going to up their QC to include single dead pixels and take a hit to their profit margin. They’d increase prices, by a lot.
Maybe there’s a market for displays that meet this standard for the nitpickers, and sell the ones that fail at a discount, but they’d definitely be a premium.

I admittedly haven’t had much time to mess with it, but I confirmed the PSU is working, so I suspect the motherboard is fried. Still need to confirm that before I order a new one, and figure out why it happened so I don’t do that again. I’m hoping my CPU is still fine.
