On the one hand i’m disappointed. On the other hand, at least i know what to expect now when i want to play a playstation game, cause i kinda hated that when a new game released, it would be in limbo for a while where you’re not sure if you should buy it now, or wait for the pc version, especially since not every game got a pc release anyway. I waited way too long to buy astro bot for that reason, but i finally pulled the trigger on it a few weeks ago.

This is basically the “Nintendo strategy”.

Nintendo games are only ever released on Nintendo systems. These games almost never go on sale, if they do it’s 5 years later and only $10 off.

It sorta sucks, but it clearly works.

It’ll be interesting to see if Sony can pull this off as well.

Then there is only one option, and that is to not play future Sony single player games.
Except of course if they make Steam Deck versions. 😀

It actually is very disappointing. They make most of my favorite games. And the only reason they’ve done this is to bring people back to their shitty ecosystem.

I’m interested is seeing how this goes. When people experience an open ecosystem they rarely go back. They may recoup some of that userbase but it won’t be back where it was from my perspective.

Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft tried that too. They are all back on Steam. I don’t see a bright future for Sony.

This is not a novel model. We already know it works. I know several people who purchased ps5 just for exclusive titles.
